RIVERS OF SPAIN.
MOUNTAINS
OF SPAIN
Climate is the average weather over a certain space and time.
There are a variety of climates in Spain: alpine climate, continental climate, mediterranean climate, oceanic climate and subtropical climate.
1. ALPINE CLIMATE
Winters are cold and summers are cool.
In regions with this climate, it rains a lot and usually in the form of snow.
FLORA: oak, fir, and coniferous trees.
FAUNA: goats, vultures and eagles.
2. CONTINENAL CLIMATE
Winters are very cold and summers are very hot.
FLORA: coniferous and deciduous trees, and thyme.
FAUNA: squirrels, deer, hares, wild boars, foxes and trout.
3. MEDITERRANEAN CLIMATE
Winters are mild and summers are hot.
FLORA: pine, oak and heather.
FAUNA: iberian linx, rabbit and flamingo.
4. OCEANIC CLIMATE
It is characterised by heavy rainfall which makes the landscaoe very green.
FLORA: deciduous forests, oak, ferns and mosses.
FAUNA: iberian brown bears and salmon.
5. SUBTROPICAL CLIMATE
This climate exist only in the Canary Islands.
It is characterised by trade winds and warm temperaturas all year.
FLORA: pine trees, cacti, palm trees and dragon trees.
FAUNA: lizards and turtles.

- Spain is the fourth largest country in Europe.
- It has a surface of 504.030 km2
- The territory of Spain also covers:

Islas Baleares off the east coast.

Islas Canarias off the north-west coast of Africa.

RIVERS OF SPAIN.
Spain
has three main watersheds:
- The Cantabrian watershed.
Rivers
in this watershed are short and fast.
- The Atlantic watershed.
Rivers
in this watershed vary depending on the región.
- The Mediterranean watershed.
Most
rivers in this watershed are short with an irregular water flow.
An
estuary is where a river flows into the sea.
Spain
is a mountainous country.
There
are many mountain ranges and a plateau called Meseta that occupies
the central part o the peninsula.
